Liposuction surgery is a cosmetic procedure and is therefore not considered a medical necessity, except in very rare instances. Because of this, you alone must decide if liposuction surgery fits your needs and desires. You can consult your physician for his recommendation or make the decision entirely on your own, without any outside assistance. However, consultation with a surgeon or committing to a surgery date does not obligate you to have the surgery. You can change your mind at any point in time. Here are some alternatives to liposuction surgery that you might want to first consider:

  1. Changes in diet and lifestyle, in addition to exercise, are a healthier way to lose weight and shed excess fat.

  2. Commit to a regular exercise schedule and stick to it. Aside from losing weight, there are other health benefits that exercise can bring.

  3. Accept your body and your appearance for what it is and learn to like it. Learn to focus on your positive traits rather than the negative ones. Use clothing and make-up to draw attention to your good physical characteristics and attract it away from the ones that you dislike.
