Before receiving any type of liposuction surgery, one should adhere to the following guidelines for preparation:

  1. Patient should not take any anticoagulants 2 weeks prior to the procedure.

  2. If receiving general anesthesia, those scheduled for morning surgeries should abstain from eating or drinking anything after midnight on the evening prior to the procedure.

  3. It is highly recommended that patients avoid smoking for 2 months prior to the procedure. Smoking interferes with blood and oxygen circulation and can increase the risk of blood clots during surgical procedures.
